Abstract

A preliminary report on the excavation of early 3rd millennium BC cairns located on the calcareous formation terrace which margins to the south the Ra’s al-Hadd beach is here provided. Five cairns possibly related to the nearby site of Hadd 6 were investigated between 1997 and 2000. From the collected evidence a picture of the social evolution of local population of coastal fishermen is here advanced.
