Abstract

Un’équipe coordinata da C. Beltrame e P. Mozzi sta lavorando allo studio delle dinamiche insediative nella laguna di Venezia in età romana attraverso un approccio innovativo che si prefigge di rivedere i ritrovamenti compiuti in passato da E. Canal. L’equipe, che comprende specialisti nelle scienze applicate all’archeologia e che fa uso di tecniche innovative per la ricerca e la documentazione archeologica, ha re-interpretato la cosiddetta Torre romana sommersa di Canale San Felice e sta lavorando allo scavo subacqueo della cosiddetta Villa romana di Lio Piccolo. In quest’ultimo sito è stata scoperta una vasca per mantenere vive le ostriche mentre il primo sito è stato interpretato come una cisterna-pozzo.

A team coordinated by C. Beltrame and P. Mozzi is working on the investigation of the dynamics of settlement of the lagoon of Venice in the Roman period through an innovative approach which is going to review past discoveries made by E. Canal. The team, which comprehends specialists in the sciences applied to archaeology and which uses innovative techniques for the underwater investigation and documentation, has re-interpreted the so-called Roman submerged Tower of the Canale San Felice and is excavating underwater the so-called Roman Villa of Lio Piccolo. In this last site a tank for oysters has been found while the first site has been interpreted as a well-cistern.
