The knowledge of occurrences in classical literary tradition and epigraphical sources are considered the privileged way to completely understand the meaning of ancient representations and to accomplish the transition from iconographical level to the iconological one.
The aim of this paper is to propose an original reading of two famous monuments that are exhibited in the museums of Copenhagen (Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek) and Barracco in Rome, thanks to the study of an unpublished fragment of a funerary cippus, probably from Sarteano.
The new data will try to provide a starting point in order to reenact the organisation of the Etruscan funeral in Chiusi during the Porsenna period.
