Abstract

This paper will examine fragments of marble reliefs, heavily damaged, discovered in Palmyra and preserved in the Archaeological Museum of the city. Some have been published previously but considered as reliefs in local limestone. The research on which this article is based includes archaeological investigations using chronological and iconographical criteria as well as petrographic and geochemical analyses designed to identify the marbles.
